Rechargly Marketing

Before we start

Twenty minutes tonight so tomorrow morning is spent using the thing rather than downloading it.

Four things to do, one thing to bring, and one thing to deliberately not do.

None of it is difficult. The only item that genuinely needs your thinking rather than your clicking is the last one, and it is the one that makes the biggest difference to how good this is in week one.

Do these

1 Install Visual Studio Code 5 min

Free, from Microsoft, at code.visualstudio.com. Download, run the installer, accept the defaults.

You are not going to be writing code in it. It is being used as a place to keep a folder of files with a chat window attached, which is a slightly odd use of a code editor and completely normal for this kind of setup.

2 Get a GitHub account 3 min

Only if you do not already have one. Free, at github.com. It is where the brain's files live so they are backed up and shared between machines rather than sitting on one laptop.

Send Matt the username or email you signed up with so he can give you access before the session. Without that step, tomorrow stalls at the first hurdle.

3 Check you can sign into everything 5 min

Make sure you can currently log into all of these with your Rechargly account: Slack, Notion, HubSpot, and Google (mail, calendar, Drive).

Tomorrow each of them gets connected by you clicking an authorisation screen while signed in as yourself. If one of them turns out to need a password reset or an access request, far better to find that out tonight than at ten past ten.

If you do not have HubSpot access yet, say so now. It is the one that matters most and the one most likely to need someone to grant it.

4 Read the main guide 15 min

The one linked at the bottom of this page. It covers what this thing is, what it already knows, and how it is put together. There is a second, longer guide about the differences from Claude Cowork, which is worth reading but not before tomorrow.

Bring this

Three or four things you have actually written. A LinkedIn post, an email you were pleased with, a brief, a piece of copy. Anything with your voice in it.

The brain works out how you write from real examples. It will not ask you to describe your style, because everybody describes the writer they would like to be, and a style description produces drafts that sound like an aspiration rather than like you.

This is the single highest-value thing you can bring, and it is the one thing that cannot be rushed in the session. Have them somewhere you can paste from.

Worth also jotting down, roughly, whatever you already know about what marketing owns here and what you are being measured on. If the answer is "not much yet", that is a perfectly good answer and it becomes your first conversation with Alex.

Do not do this

Do not install Claude Code, and do not sign into Claude on this machine yet.

A separate Claude account is being set up for this role, funded by Rechargly and kept apart from any personal account you might have. If you install and sign in beforehand, the odds are good it signs in as the wrong account, and untangling that is more annoying than it sounds.

It takes about two minutes to do properly tomorrow. Leave it.

What tomorrow looks like

Roughly an hour, most of it waiting on consent screens.

Nothing gets sent, published or written to any Rechargly system during the session. It starts in a mode where it can read and report but cannot act, and it stays there until you decide otherwise.
